Georgia Tech Dance Association
How does one of Georgias Tech's most iconic clubs survive a pandemic?
Answer: a designer with initiative.
Prior to 2020 (and my leadership involvement), GTDA hosted monthly 1920's style swing dances attracting 300 people per dance (including me!). The cornerstone of Atlanta's swing community, dancers of all types gathered with live bands, famous instructors, and hip DJs.
Fast forward to late 2022-- I go to Georgia Tech now, and I miss dancing. I go in search of the lost GTDA. I find a ragtag group of former volunteers yearning for the return of their community but missing the spark to make it happen.
I asked, "How can I rebuild the club?"
"However you can."
After gathering an awesome team, I took charge of building a full branding and marketing strategy: What do we need to reinvent? What do we recycle from the old club? How do we engage marketing affiliates and partners? How do we keep a consistent experience across all communication channels?
We are now back to monthly swing dances (150 dancers attend!) and are fully engaged with the community. I love combining my passion for dancing with design.
