Beloved Community
Beloved Community is an interactive sculpture designed to bridge the gap between a city and its people.

During this project, I explored the intricacies of design research through interviews, ethnographic studies, and literary analysis. My research informed the need to create a space for digital feedback within the physical world.

Problem
Atlanta locals sometimes feel uncomfortable walking and driving through their city.

Insights
1. People developed safety strategies to avoid perceived dangers-- drive rather than walk, avoid going out after dark, etc.
2. Lack of community: People avoid interacting with strangers
3. Common distrust of Atlanta's ability to build/maintain infrastructure that promotes safe and livable communities

Solution
Beloved Community: An interactive sculpture that allows citizens to provide direct feedback to city planners on how to improve city infrastructure in an engaging interaction that lasts less than 20 seconds.

Next Steps
1. Build a full-scale physical model and test user interactions to further test the types of questions to ask and the interaction as a whole.
2. Partner with engineers to build a functioning model.
3. Scout locations for physical installment and connect with people who can give permission and help turn Beloved Community into a reality.
